What Brand of Tractor is Red and Which are Orange?

When we started shopping around for a our first farm tractor I couldn’t help but notice all the different colored farm tractors. I was especially getting confused with the red and orange brands, as those were the ones we kept looking at. So as we went from one tractor dealership to the next I started asking questions on brands and colors. Read on to find out what I learnt.

There are over 18 different farm tractor brands that are red. The most popular brands are:

Tractor Brands That are Red in Color

1. CASE IH

Headquarters: USA

Red Aerosol Color Code: There are 4, or more, different red colors. Check this website here for the different color codes and corresponding year of the tractor.

Company History: Case IH is a brand of agricultural equipment. It was created in 1985 when Tenneco bought selected assets of the agricultural division from International Harvester and merged it into its J.I. Case Company. Today Case IH is owned by CNH Industrial, which in turn is financially controlled by the Italian investment company Exor, which belongs to the Agnelli family.

2. INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY

Headquarters: USA

Red Color Code: There are several different red color variations, which you can check out here and here. Some folks refer to is as “flambeau red.”

Company History: The International Harvester Company was formed by the merger of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company and the Deering Harvester Company in 1902. The company had a number of early tractor models. The Farmall, in 1924, sparked a revolution in tractor design.

International Harvester’s agricultural operations were merged with the J. I. Case Company in 1985. Equipment is still manufactured under the Case IH name.

3. MAHINDRA

Headquarters: India

Red Color Code: There are several different red variations depending on year and model of farm tractor. I couldn’t find a good resource online so I would recommend reaching out to the dealership directly.

Company History: Mahindra is a major manufacturing corporation in India, involved in metals, automobiles, and farm machinery. In 1963, Mahindra joined with International Harvester to form the International Tractor Company of India (ITCI) and was producing a version of the B275 by 1965. The partnership with International ended in 1971, and ITCI merged back with Mahindra as the tractor division. The “Mahindra” brand name was first used on tractors in 1982. In 1994, Mahindra USA was formed to export tractors to the United States.

4. MASSEY FERGUSON

Headquarters: USA

Red Color Code: There are several different red color codes based on year and model of the farm tractor, which you can check out here.

Company History: Massey Ferguson was created with the merger between Massey-Harris and the Ferguson companies in 1952. The separate brands were retained until 1958, when the lines were merged and renamed Massey-Ferguson. AGCO purchased Massey-Ferguson in 1994 and continues to use the name.

5. AGCO

Headquarters: USA

Company History:  AGCO is an American agricultural equipment manufacturer headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, United States. AGCO acquired White in 1991, Massey Ferguson in 1994, Fendt in 1997, Caterpillar’s Challenger line in 2002, and Valtra (formerly Valmet) in 2002.

In 2001, The AGCO White and AGCO Allis names were dropped in favor of the AGCO brand. In 2009, it was announced that the AGCO brand would be phased out leaving the Massey Ferguson and Challenger brands.

6. AGTRAC

Headquarters: USA

Red Color Codes: I couldn’t find a reliable source on the internet for the red color codes, so I would recommend calling a dealer directly.

Company History: AgTrac Tractors are distributed by ARTRAC of Clarksville, Arkansas. The company had a history of selling and servicing Chinese-manufacturered KAMA tractors. In 2006, an agreement was made with Dongfeng to sell a variant of their tractors under the AgTrac brand name.

Company History: Agrinar is located in Argentina in a former Massey Ferguson factory located in Santa Fe

8. ANTONIO CARRARO

Headquarters: Italy

Red Color Codes: I couldn’t find a reliable source on the internet for the red color codes, so I would recommend calling a dealer directly here.

Company History: Antonio Carraro is a historic italian corporation, located in Campodarsego, Padua, Veneto region. Founded by Giovanni Carraro in 1910, it is a worldwide leade in the production of compact tractors for specialized agriculture and civil maintenance.

Company History: ArmaTrac is the export brand of Erkunt Tractor Ind. Inc., a Turkish automotive company which has been manufacturing high-quality tractors since 2003.

Erkunt Tractor Ind. Inc. was founded in 2003 as the first company in Turkey to design and manufacture its own tractors without the restrictions of being under the license of an international automotive company. The

10. BELARUS

Headquarters: Russia

Company History: The Belarus is a series of four-wheeled tractors produced since 1950 at Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), which was founded on May 29, 1946 in Minsk, Belarus.

The massive tractor factory is still the largest in the world. The Soviet tractor industry experienced massive growth following the Russian Revolution.

These tractors are very well known throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States and are exported to more than 100 countries worldwide, including the United States and Canada.

11. BRANSON

Headquarters: USA

Company History: Branson is a trade name for compact tractors built by the Kukje Machinery Company of South Korea. Kukje has been building agricultural machinery since 1968, and has supplied components for Yanmar, John Deere and engines for Cummins. In 2016, Kukje was acquired by Korean tractor manufacturer TYM.

12. JINMA

Headquarters: China

Company History: The Jinma tractor brand is a product of the Jiangsu Yueda Tractor Manufacturing Company of China. The company was born out of the Jiangsu Yueda Yancheng Tractor Factory, established in 1959 as a Chinese state-owned company of the Machinery Ministry.

The company makes the Jinma brand of small (20-75 horsepower) wheeled tractors, in addition to the Huanghai brand of walking tractors. Jinma tractors are exported to Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America.

In the United States, Jinma tractors are assembled and resold under a variety of brand names including Nortrac, Agracat, Farmpro, and Emerybuilt.

13. MCCORMICK

Company History: McCormick Tractors International was formed by ARGO in 2000. FIAT purchased Case-International and was required to sell the former International Harvester factory in Doncaster, England. ARGO assumed production of the product line and use of the historic McCormick name.

Company History: In 1980, Satoh and Mitsubishi Machinery merged to create Mitsubishi Agricultural Machinery. Mitsubishi has built tractors for International Harvester and Cub Cadet.

Company History: RK Tractors is a brand of compact utility tractors distributed by Rural King stores in the United States. RK Tractors are manufactured by TYM and assembled in Rural King’s Ohio warehouse facility.

Headquarters: Czech Republic

Company History: Zetor is a Czech manufacturer of farm tractors which are sold worldwide. Zetor began as a program to create a national Czech tractor in the aftermath of World War II.

Zetor was exporting globally by the 1960s and entered the North American market in the 1980s. Zetor was privatized in 1993

Headquarters: Japan

Red Color Codes: Here are some tractor forums discussing red Yanmar color codes.

Company History: The Yanmar was founded in Japan in 1912. The firm has a long history with small diesel engines. The agricultural equipment division of the company was started in 1961. Yanmar entered into an arrangement with John Deere and began building several utility tractor models in the early 1980s for John Deere.

Yanmar continues to be an engine supplier for John Deere’s utility tractors.

18. VALPADANA

Headquarters: Italy

Company History: Valpadana is an Italian manufacturer of tractors. The company is headquartered in Fabbrico in the Province of Reggio Emilia, in the region of Emilia-Romagna, in Italy. The company manufactures tractors for agricultural uses.

Tractor Brand That are Orange in Color

1. KUBOTA

Headquarters: Japan

Orange Aerosol Color Code: 70000-73713 KUBOTA ORANGE II (BRIGHT) for tractors from 1989 and newer.

Company History: Established in 1890 in Japan as a casting manufacturer. Started production of castings for weighing equipment and daily commodities. In 1960, Kubota developed the first Japanese tractor, to support farming villages suffering from labor shortages.

Kubota entered the North American market in 1969.

2. FIAT

Headquarters: Italy

Orange Color Code: There are several different versions of orange color, check them out here.

Company History: FIAT was founded in 1899 as an automobile manufacturing company. Fabbrica Italiana di Automobili Torino (FIAT) began developing tractors by 1910, but was delayed by World War I. The first FIAT farm tractor, the 702, was being produced by 1919. With the acquisition of Ford-New Holland, FIAT dropped the FIAT and Fiatagri brands.

3. BOBCAT

Headquarters: USA

Company History: Bobcat is a US-based manufacturer of construction equipment, particularly noted for skid-steer loaders. A line of Daedong-built Bobcat tractors were sold in the US from 2007 to 2013. A new line of Bobcat-branded tractors was announced in 2019, the result of a joint agreement between Daedong and Doosan, Bobcat’s parent company.

Headquarters: South Korea

Orange Color Codes: Some tractor forum say that Chevy Orange 1620 is a close match.  But I would call a dealer directly here.

Company History: Daedong was founded in 1947, producing its first tractor in South Korea in 1968. In 1993, Daedong expanded into the US market with Daedong-USA, and the Kioti tractor brand.

5. FIATHESSTON

Headquarters: USA

Orange Color Codes: I found Fiat “Old Orange: RAL 2008” as a code on the internet. But would recommend reaching out to a dealer directly.

Company History: Hesston was a US manufacturer of hay and forage implements. Hesston imported FIAT tractors and sold them under the Hesston brand. In 1991, Hesston was purchased by AGCO.

6. KIOTI

Headquarters: USA and Korea

Orange Color Codes: Some tractor forums say that Chevy Orange 1620 (from Canadian Tire – in Canada) is a close match. 

Company History: Kioti Tractor Division. Daedong-USA, Inc. is the U.S. subsidiary of Daedong Industrial Company, Ltd. specializing in the manufacture and distribution of tractors, UTVs, attachments, and implements. Since the first Kioti was introduced in the U.S. in 1986, Kioti has experienced rapid growth.

7. NUFFIELD

Headquarters: Linconlnshire

Orange Color Codes: Check out this color code resource here. NOTE: after the merger with Leyland they changed the color of the tractors from the Poppy Red of Nuffield to two tone blue which would eventually last right up to the early 1980s.

Company History: The Nuffield tractor was developed by England’s Morris Motors in reponse to a post-World War II need for farm machinery and export products. The M3 and M4 entered production in 1948. The line continued until 1969 when it was purchased by Leyland. Leyland tractors was sold in 1982 to Marshall Tractors Ltd and production moved to Gainsborough in Lincolnshire
